The European Union and the embassies of Iran, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Japan in Kabul have expressed condolences to the families of victims of the deadly floods in Nuristan province. Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the deployment of emergency response teams to the affected areas.

On Tuesday, 30 Saratan, the Japanese and Iranian embassies in Kabul expressed sorrow over the casualties and damage caused by the disaster and extended their sympathies to the victims and their families.

Richard Lindsay, the UK Special Envoy for Afghanistan, also expressed deep concern over the incident and said rescue teams were working to search for survivors.

In a post on the social media platform X, he wrote: “We are deeply saddened by reports of devastating floods in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, which have resulted in the loss of many lives and left many others missing.”

The Turkish Embassy in Kabul also offered condolences to the families of those affected by the floods in Nuristan.

The European Union, in a post on X, said it was supporting those affected by the disaster and expressed hope that all missing people would be found as soon as possible.
