Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said Pakistan returned 557 Afghanistan migrant families, comprising 2,864 individuals, on Saturday. According to him, the families entered Afghanistan through the Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Islam Qala border crossings.
In a post on X, Fitrat said the returnees were registered upon arrival and provided with basic assistance, including transportation, cash aid, and healthcare services.
According to the Taliban official, 528 of the returned families have been transferred to various provinces across Afghanistan. He did not provide further details about the destination or accommodation of the remaining families.
The return of Afghanistan migrants from Pakistan has continued in recent months, with thousands of families crossing back into Afghanistan through border crossings. The ongoing deportations come as international organizations have repeatedly expressed concern over the humanitarian consequences of large-scale returns and the challenges of providing shelter and essential services to those returning to the country.
